Sir Hurkisondas Nurrotumdas Hospital & Research Centre
Hurkisondas hospital is one of the renowned hospitals in Mumbai, India since 1922. With capacity of around 300 beds it is equipped with ultra modern facilities. It obviously works round the clock and has trained staff and eminent doctors in various fields & paramedics and also carries non-medical staff.
With new focus in healthcare management revolving around its customers i.e. the patients, the hospital authority decided to carryout manpower assessment study of its class IV staff on scientific basis.
It was a two-part study. One, to assess manpower of the defined group of employees based on their percent utilization and other practical considerations. Second was to give job descriptions of the defined group.
Various wards, departments and facilities were studied including Operation Theatres, Kitchen, Laundry, Pathology, Radiology, etc. Based on the study, deficiencies, adequacies or surpluses were identified and the final report was worked out. Scope of improvement on quantitative basis was around 11%; suggestions for method improvements were also given.
