Synopsis 06a: Regional Office-West
The group has two offices at Industry House in Mumbai, India looking after
the business interests in this region. One, for cable and capacitor business
and other mainly for cement business. Study was conducted for manpower assessment of the aforesaid offices. As the manpower under consideration was in the category of staff and sub-staff including senior level officials as well, a non-quantitative approach was taken; though, quantitative data also was gathered to serve indicative purpose.
Personal interviews were conducted with the people actually doing the job and/or people overseeing others' jobs. Activity listing of each was taken; while doing so it was endeavoured to establish a dialogue with people to understand subjective constraints / facilitators affecting their on the job performance negatively or positively.
Taking cognizance of the above facts, the final manpower recommendations were made in line with guiding parameters of basic principles of management as discussed briefly at the beginning of the section of synopses.
Various functions like Finance/Accounts, Commercial/Purchase, Marketing/Sales and Administration were studied for both the offices and manpower recommendations were given for both offices separately and also as combined entity with possible improvement of 46%
